James McJannet was East London's first pharmacist.
He came to South Africa in about 1876 and was associated with Lennon Ltd in Port Elizabeth, then moved
to East London where he founded his own pharmacy.
He married a certain Miss Morris of Simonstown, a marine officer's daughter. They would have ten
children together.
McJannet died in Sussex, England, in June 1939. He was 88 years of age.
